What is a drone and what’s the difference between a drone, UAV, UAS and RPAS?

A drone is a vehicle which is does not have a human pilot on-board. They are piloted manually using a remote control or autonomously from the ground using a control station running specific software.

They are all the same as we are concerned. Over the years many people have been calling unmanned vehicles a variety of things. Currently the different versions we have come across are Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS)

All the different common names used to describe additional equipment including any control station, datalinks, telemetry, Communications, navigation equipment and all the associated equipment necessary to operate your drone including any laptops or iPads and groundstations
